Sometimes I take it for granted that people know how to shop for foods. I’ve been a health nut for a long time, so here is a list of the many many foods that have become a staple around my household:
- *Fresh fruits like apples and oranges and bananas
- Bags of Mixed Frozen Fruit

- SmartBalance Peanut Butter
- No-Sugar Added Jelly
- 100 calorie packs of Popcorn
- Fat Free Ranch Dressing Powder packets to add to butter popcorn above
- Fat Free and Low Fat salad dressings

- fish like tuna, salmon and tilipia
- frozen fish from Gorton’s… the ones that are 100 calories per serving
- no sugar added ice cream
- no sugar added pudding from Jell-O or Hunts

- whole grain bread (do not be fooled by “wheat bread”… brown does not equal high fiber)
- FiberOne cereal
- 100 calorie snack packs. yes, it’s junk food but at least it’s portion controlled

- South Beach frozen entrees
- South Beach cookies
- No sugar added popsicles, creamsicles and fudgesicles
- fat free mayo

- laughing cow lite cheese
- no sugar added applesauce and apple juice

i try to eat 9 servings of fruits and veggies a day and balance that with lean proteins, whole grains and low-calorie treats and diet sodas and water.
