Couch Bound
Well, BSers… the scale showed a gain of two pounds this week. I’m not surprised. All I’ve done is sit around and eat junk food all weekend.
I think it’s a stupid cycle. I am in so much pain lately. My whole body just radiates pain. And I guess one way that I “self-medicate” is with junk food. But in the end , it’s not going to make me feel better. It’ll just make me feel worse as I gain weight.
So I’m going to try and stay positive… I’ll take it easy today and I’ll try to eat about 1000 calories of good food spaced evenely throughout the day. I’ll try to ride my little easy pedal thing for an hour this morning but I’m not sure that I can. Like I said, my entire body, from my feet to my neck is just in so much pain unless I am lying on the couch motionless. I think that my tendency to laugh and joke and be a “good guy” has decieved people… they don’t realize how much it hurts to have these cracked ribs. But I have got to just lie around and watch TV today. Period.
Tomorrow I’ll bump back up to about 1500 calories per day and hopefully by the end of this week I’ll be back around 145 or so.
I hope I’m not bedridden all week.
This sucks.

Good Morning Matt..

I am sorry to hear about you being in so much pain. I went back to read previou blogs I missed, fractured ribs for a couple months! How horrible!
My husband fell in the shower almost a year ago and fractured one and I know how horrible of pain he was in!
It is funny I just bough myself one of those little peddle things at this junk shop that I pass with my job every day! Boy did I get a deal, when I asked the guy how much it was and he said $1.00, I had to ask him again. Now I know I really got a deal. I never thought of using for my arms, thanks for the info!
I hope you have a good of day as possible!
Matt,
So sorry about all the pain you’ve been in lately! You know, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do for yourself. And if one week you blow it, so what?! Get back on track this next week!!!
You’re doing great and are so dedicated that I know it seems like a lot right now, but that 2 lbs will come off in no time! I wouldn’t feel bad about treating yourself nicely when you’re in pain…….I hope it heals quickly for you!

Hey Matt–So sorry you are in such pain! I haven’t dealt with rib pain (but have heard it is extremely painful), but I have dealt with severe back pain (two surgeries in two years after seven years of horrible pain) and now another cervical disk herniation. But hang in there….you can do it! Let your ribs heal, but then get back to moving as it is the best thing for your back! Take care!
Matt, sorry you are in such pain. My DH has had cracked ribs before and I can imagine your pain. Just take it easy on yourself and make good healthy choices while resting. Take care of yourself! Feel better!
Matt, Ouch ! Sorry to hear about your pain ! Just do what you can when it comes to exercise, listen to your body !As for the eating sounds like you have a good plan ! Take it easy ! Kimmi

Matt,
Let’s forget about the scale. What about lean muscles that you gained exercising every day? What about re-shaping your body with walking and other things you do? What about your clothes? Are there any positive changes? I believe there are.
Hang in there… let your body heal and recover.
So sorry about your pain. And you are right, people can’t feel what you feel and if you are smiling, they think that it’s not that bad. I would be more vocal about being in pain…
Tatiana
Ugh! Matt, take care of yourself. This sounds very painful. Be well! Ellen
I’m sorry you’re in so much pain Matt. Sometimes all you can do, like you said, is self-medicate, as long as you’re doing it within reason and can get back on that horse ASAP!! Hang in there Matt, I know you can overcome this!
I’m really sorry to hear you are in so much pain Matt. My father broke a couple ribs last year and he could hardly walk. Your in my prayers for a quick recovery. Have a Cranberry Sierra Mist on me!!! “Cheers” (love that soda)!!!!
I hope you feel better real soon Matt. Being sick or in pain can really make us turn to comfort foods and then the bad foods make us feel down. Just do your best Matt. Try and keep it together. You can do it.
