Kids
We all love our kids don’t we?
And we desperately do not want OUR food issues to become theirs. We don’t want our daughters’ obsessing about their weight, or our sons to be embarrassed in the gym locker rooms. And yet we want them to be healthy and to exercise.
It really really bugs me when people constantly give my son treats. Like an avalanche of ice cream and cookies and cake. French fries. It drives me almost bonkers. I try to set a good example for him of eating well and active living and it seems like everywhere I turn people are trying to counteract that. No wonder all our kids are getting fat. We tell ourselves it’s somebody else doing it… but it’s US! We encourage our kids to be less active, I think and we feed them Chef Boyardee and potato chips and think nothing of it.
Well I’m not. I’m just not. Period.
I’m going to teach my son to eat healthy without making a big deal out of it. I’m going to teach him the importance of daily activity. That’s all there is to it.
Lucky Charms, indeed.

Tell me about it that’s also one of the main reasons I’m trying so hard to lose all this extra weight I’ve gained. I don’t want my son to look at my old pics and be like, “mom why did you get so fat?”; like my sister does to my mom.
My son does not eat any candy except for his gummy vitamins. The only hard part I have is convincing him to eat veggies he only likes corn.
Good luck.
I have a problem with my oldest grandaughter, she is 4. Actually the proble is with her parents my son and daughter-in-law and her mother they are always telling my grandaughter she is getting fat and she needs to excercise with NaNa. I have had talks with them about not doing this, but they still do. I tell them if they aren’t careful they will end up with a daughter who could easily become so obsessed with her weight she could become bullemic or anorexic! When she comes and spends time with me she makes good food choices. She eats fruits, veggies! They tell me how she eats all day long! I tell them she does here too, but she eats 5 or 6 times a day and she eats things that are good for her. They tell her she better excercise with NaNa when she is with me! I think she would be fine if they would get a better handle on eating and leave her to her own choices. In the mean time I will keep telling them what I think and letting my grandaughter know she is not getting fat and let her learn from my food choices.

Have a good one!
Oh I know!!!
You’re right!! I’ve been working on my kids knowing good and bad food choices too. The main reason I decided to get off my butt was due to wanting to be active with my boys.
Nice blog!!
